Why Choose Legacy Dentistry for Dental Bonding?

What Is Dental Bonding?

You may have heard it by other names, like direct bonding or cosmetic bonding. No matter what you call it, dental bonding is a simple yet effective way to improve the size, shape, and color of an aesthetically imperfect tooth. It involves the use of composite resin, a putty-like material that is also used for tooth-colored fillings. What’s great about composite resin is that it can be customized to match the shade of your tooth enamel, seamlessly correcting minor cosmetic issues such as:

The Dental Bonding Process

After our dentists ensure you’re a good candidate for dental bonding, the procedure should only take one appointment. Depending on how many teeth you’re fixing, you can expect it to last between 30 and 60 minutes. In most cases, the treatment should be fully painless – the majority of patients don’t even require numbing with local anesthetic. If you get nervous during dental appointments, though, we do offer FREE nitrous oxide sedation at every visit to ensure you’re comfortable.

We’ll start by cleaning your teeth and administering a weak acid to help its pores open up. Then, the acid is rinsed away, and the composite resin is applied (which has previously been personalized to match your enamel). Once we’ve finished sculpting the resin into its ideal shape, we’ll shine an ultraviolet light onto the material to quickly harden it. After polishing your tooth, you’re free to walk out and enjoy your lovely new smile!
